Peanut Butter Recall Expanded to 240 Brands

Earlier this week, we posted about the recall of Sunland Inc. brand peanut butter and nut products.

Today, after the FDA found Salmonella in various environmental samples from the Sunland production and manufacturing facilities, Sunland is expanding the recall to include all products made at the facility between March 1, 2010 and September 24, 2012, a total of 240 products.

Some of the newly recalled products include several varieties of flavored butters and spreads, including Thai Ginger Butter, Chocolate Butter and Banana Butter.

Check your cabinets! As we mentioned previously, Sunland products can be found at many major stores under many different brand names. The Sunland recall affects nut products sold at: Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods Market, Target, Safeway, Fresh & Easy, Harry and David, Sprouts, Heinen’s, Stop & Shop Supermarket Company, Giant Food of Landover, Md., as well as several other stores.

Some of Sunland’s recalled brand names include Target’s Archer Farms, Safeway’s Open Nature, Earth Balance, Fresh & Easy, Late July, Heinen’s, Joseph’s, Natural Value, Naturally More, Peanut Power Butter, Serious Food, Snaclite Power, Sprouts Farmers Market, Sprouts, Sunland and Dogsbutter.

Check the updated list of recalled nut products on the FDA website.
