Is there anybody who doesn’t like pancakes? We doubt!

Sweet, salty, for dessert or dinner, pancake is one of the favorite foods of people from all ages and all over the world.

Pancakes are really “old”

Pancakes are such temptation that can be hardly defined. According to “Oxford Company of Food” pancakes are a mixture of flour, eggs and milk, baked in a flat pan. John Mariani in his “Dictionary of American Food” reduces them to “flat cakes cooked on a skillet and browned on both sides”.
The definition is not so important. Because we all know that if we have a couple of eggs, a little milk, flour and butter we can make wonderful pancakes for the whole family. You don’t have to amazing cooker!
Actually pancake has stable history. It is successor of early flat bread, baked on hot stones in Neolithic. Romans cause a boom with their small pastry spreading through Europe and Africa. Pancakes outlive the Roman Empire and the Middle Ages flat hot plate enters one of the main tools for their preparation. In 1430, English culinary manuscript also mentions pancakes, and the oldest Dutch Cookbook of 1514 included a dozen recipes.

English and Dutch settlers not only brought the U.S. its various pancakes recipes, but also began to lay them into the American lifestyle and culinary culture. Jefferson even ordered them in the famous “Monticello.” Author James Cooper welcomed them friends in Paris.
