Many children, while playing, accidentally swallow different things or they often like to eat dirt or other things they should not do normally. But the 12-year-old Anil of Madhya Pradesh state in India, went a little further. He managed to accidentally swallow 9 cm fish, while playing in the river. The boy was playing near the river and captured the little fish. Children in his home town often swallow live fish, which they have picked up along the river, but this time something different happened. Anil swallowed the fish, however, inadvertently choked and the ‘small lunch’ stucked in the throat of the little guy, and from there through the trachea it managed to stuck in his left lung, is what doctors suggest.
The fish was still alive but trapped in the lung of the boy, while the doctors tried to save the little interloper, performing a bronchoscopy. Scientists still do not know how the fish had managed to go into the lungs of the little boy and not his stomach, and most of all – how it managed to survive all the way down the trachea. Doctors had to switch to emergency surgery after the boy began to suffocate, fighting for every breath. The doctor who performed the operation, said that the fish was alive until the last moment of the bronchoscopy.
