The famous television and radio host Larry King suffers from type 2 diabetes

The incidence of diabetes is increasing rapidly. According to recent statistics 366 million people worldwide are affected by the chronic illness. Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by high blood sugar. The high levels of glucose in the blood are due to the lack of production of the hormone insulin by the pancreas, or due to a lack of “answer” of the cells to the produced insulin.
Diabetes causes damage to blood vessels and nervous system after a long period of time. It can lead to different complaints from various organ systems, including heart and circulatory system, retina, eyes, kidney, peripheral nerves.
Here are some of the celebrities that have to fight with the disease every day and still to look healthy, happy and thin.

Bret Michaels

The frontman of “Poison” Bret Michaels is also suffering from diabetes. He controls the disease while living a life of rock star and constantly appearing on the TV. The singer was diagnosed with the disease when he was only at the age of 6.
2010 was associated with a series of health problems for Michaels, including cerebral hemorrhage. However, he finished and won the U.S. TV reality show “The Celebrity Apprentice” and donate his prize of 250 000 dollars to the American Diabetes Association.

Larry King

The famous television and radio host Larry King suffers from type 2 diabetes. He often discussed during broadcasting the problems associated with the disease in America.
Diabetes increases the risk of cardiovascular and kidney disease, stroke and other serious health problems.
In 1987, Larry King was made quintuple bypass. Diabetes is not the only risk factor for cardiovascular disease – the famous TV host also liked to smoke and drink wine.

Elizabeth Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor lived for many years with type 2 diabetes.
She is known for her charitable activities, supporting fundraising for HIV and AIDS.
Over the last 25 years of her life the grand Lady of the cinema underwent more than 100 operations, including for cancer and back problems. She even survived a stroke. She also suffered from scoliosis and other diseases.
Elizabeth Taylor died at 79 years, on March 23, 2011
