Cellulite is among the most common cosmetic problems for women – one in every three women suffers from the unpleasant skin problem.

Retinol cream

Study found that the appearance of the skin is improved after 6 months of application of a cream that contains 0.3% retinol.
Scientists say that retinol stimulates skin tissue to create a thick skin which has to cover better the skin that has cellulite. Firstly, the retinol increases cell production in the top layer of skin. It helps to pep up the skin and in this way the skin looks younger and smoother. Actually retinol, retinyl palmitate and retinoic acid are all forms of vitamin A.

Methylxanthine creams

Some studies have shown improvement in the use of cellulite creams containing methylxanthines, including caffeine, aminophylline and theophylline. The degree of improvement is still questionable because of the differences in the results of other studies.
It is believed that the creams work by breaking down the fats, but it is unclear to what extent the ingredients penetrate the skin.
American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery warns that there are needed to be done more researches on this topic.

Herbal creams

It is believed that herbal creams that contain different ingredients like ginkgo biloba, sweet clover and evening primrose oil can also help to reduce cellulite by affecting the blood circulation. However, this has not been proven by scientific research, yet.
In fact, a study conducted 32 anti-cellulite creams which contained more than 260 different chemical compounds. About one quarter of these ingredients can cause allergic reactions in some people.
