The new discovery may play a key role in the prevention of various diseases of the skeletal system

Osteoporosis affects billions of people worldwide, the majority of whom are women.
Scientists from the University of Manchester have developed pioneering technology that can provide data on the status and bone strength, long before the development of this insidious disease, report from Daily Mail.
They found that by scanning the teeth the scientists can understand what the strength of the bone is and whether there is a disturbing manifestation of thinning.
For the moment there are no other reliable methods to provide adequate diagnosis of whether a person is at risk of developing osteoporosis.
Researchers conducted a survey of 5,000 people aged from 15 to 94 years. The scientists have looked mainly X-rays of the teeth and the health condition of the patients.
The ladies clearly were seen that in 42 years changes in their bone structure hardly occurs, but after this age, things quickly began to change.
Based on these studies there was developed dental software that can assess the health of teeth and bone structure of the entire patient, analyze the data and to indicate to what extent the risk of developing osteoporosis is.
Advantage of this technology is that people very often visit their dentist’s office and do X-rays of their teeth rather than bone examinations and X-rays. This may play a key role in the prevention of various diseases of the skeletal system.
