The Interesting History of Sweet Poison ASPARTAME

See what is the history of inventing the most commonly used artificial sweetener aspartame

The history is really interesting and like most of the deadly dangers in the world happens by accident. Actually the development of aspartame wasn’t planned. It happened in 1965 when G.D. Searle chemist James M. Schlatter was trying to develop medicine against peptic ulcer disease. The chemist spilled one of the substances on his finger while he was working and then licked his finger to clean it. So he discovered that the substance has sweet taste. That is how began the life of one of the most dangerous ingredients in our foods and drinks, report Mercola. Com.

Which Is More DANGEROUS – Sugar or Artificial Sweeteners

aspartame history

Aspartame was invented by accident

But the approval of using it did not go smoothly. FDA strongly recommended denial of its approval because of contradictory data about is effect on human’s health. The reasons were mildly reasonable – brain tumors in animal laboratory studies, too little data about the effect on human’s body and barely no data about long-term effect.
Yet how aspartame turned out be the most used artificial sweetener today is a good question. The answer is simple – a lot of money and political influence.
Aspartame is 180 times sweeter than sugar and its brand names are Nutra Sweet and Equal. Till 2008 more than 6 000 products had aspartame in its composition. These are dessert mixes, chewing gum, puddings, yogurt, gelatins, chewable vitamins, confections, sugar-free cough drops, powdered soft drinks, carbonated soft drinks, frozen desserts, etc.
More than 250 million people from over 100 countries in the world use products with aspartame every day.
The chemical composition of aspartame is 1-aspartyl 1 phenylalanine methyl ester and has three components: 10% – methanol; 40% – aspartic acid; 50% – phenylalanine;
Side effects of aspartame are listed in more than 900 studies, 10 000 reports about reactions of the body on aspartame.

Artificial Sweeteners – the Insidious Poison
Some of the most common side effects of aspartame are fatigue and weakness, migraine, hives, rash, joint pain, abdominal pain, convulsions and seizures, changes in heart rate, nausea and vomiting, changes in vision, headache, diarrhea, hallucination, dizziness.
Do you know what neotame is?
This is newly modified version of aspartame and is 72 sweeter and has greater heat stability. New or not health risks are similar to those of aspartame.

5 Underappreciated Green Vegetables You Should Be Eating

Michelle Obama wants us to make half of our plate fruits or vegetables, it is World Vegetarian Awareness Month, and we all know how over and over vegetables are proven nutrition superheroes. But before the complaints start coming about how our green leafy friends just don’t taste good, try out some lesser known veggies and discover exactly how delicious they can be. If that’s not enough, a new study out this month says that eating green vegetables at least once a week cut participants’ risk of oral cancer by twenty percent. So eat up!

Leeks: In the same family as onions and garlic, leeks, the national vegetable of Wales, are at their peak during fall and winter. They are found primarily in soups, like our Potato Leek Soup, but can also be eaten raw in salads or sautéed. They contain flavonoids, folate, and antioxidant polyphenols, all important for cardiovascular health. Leeks are low in calories, yet one cup provides many vitamins and minerals including half the daily recommended amount of vitamin K and thirty percent of the daily value of vitamin A. Although less researched for health benefits than garlic and onions, leeks are just as beneficial and their milder taste may appeal to those who dislike garlic and onion’s strong flavor. Be sure to wash these well to remove dirt and grit hiding between the leaves.

How Can We Change the World? (Part 2)

In a perfect world, thoughts, experiences and beliefs are constantly evolving

changes-thinking

In a perfect world, thoughts, experiences and beliefs are constantly evolving

In a perfect world, thoughts, experiences and beliefs are constantly evolving. In everyday life we often have to face new and interesting people and be in situations in which we continually discover new aspects of our emotional and intellectual life.
Nevertheless, this scenario rarely plays out; life is not always flowing perfectly. For most of us, personal tracks and everyday same schedule and same situations “narrow” and reinforce our worldview to the already established ways of thinking.
Then one day we wake up, realize that we need something… different. Or simply, we want to see the “old” world in a new way – we need a change in mentality. Overall, this exercise is not so difficult and it is enough just to make a little effort, and with it will come the changing world for which we crave…

Doing the usual things differently

Even small changes in our lives can help us achieving the goal. We can choose a new sport that we always wanted to try or to visit places that we usually avoided. A new style of music, a book or movie would also be helpful.
People who like to control everything around them should put aside their high expectations and allow others to do tasks on their own way.
Passive people, on the other hand, can strive more often to take matters into their own hands and be more aggressive. Due to the small changes in everyday life, the brain will have new momentum and create new neural pathways that provoke change.

Work on self-awareness

Many people are afraid to explore and understand their thoughts and emotions. Instead they pay more attention to the “outside” life – the needs of others, career, goals, etc…
The study of self awareness can help determining what our real needs, desires and dreams are. In addition, it will pay more attention to how we relate to others. Identifying our own feelings and emotions help us correct them.

How Can We Change the World? (Part 1)

In a perfect world, thoughts, experiences and beliefs are constantly evolving

Change Thinking

See the “old” world in a new way

In a perfect world, thoughts, experiences and beliefs are constantly evolving. In everyday life we often have to face new and interesting people and be in situations in which we continually discover new aspects of our emotional and intellectual life.
Nevertheless, this scenario rarely plays out, life is not always flowing perfectly.

“I will think differently, I will think differently!”

Many people believe that the best way to help themselves is to escape from the routine, like repeating to yourself that you want to think differently. The idea is not new at all. Most religious practices are bound on repeating the prayers many times.
We can choose some specific mantra to change our way of thinking. But this is not enough. We have to think about and repeat the phrase; otherwise the message will not achieve the desired effect. We must try to repeat it every time when a certain situation challenges us.

Meet new people

To “bring” ideas and perspectives in life, you need to communicate with people who are with different profession, background, culture or religion.
Communicating with people of similar thinking is a way to strengthen the already built thinking. It is difficult to see our own mistakes and shortcomings in this way.
This does not mean that we have to stop relations with old friends. It means that we need to let new friend come into our lives. We do not have to visit different countries to meet people who are different from us. In fact, they are all around us. You just have to look around and allow them to enter your world.

What You Need To Know About the Flu?

Learn how to prevent and how to treat the unpleasant disease

flu

Cold seasons are the perfect ones for the flu

Influenza is one of the most widespread infections in the world. Characterized by sudden intoxication the first symptoms are expressed with high fever, headache, severe muscle pain and inflammation of the upper respiratory tract. Until now in the world there were over 90 major epidemics and 15 pandemics of influenza.
The most famous pandemic in 1918 – 1919, when the disease spread among over 500 million people and killed more than 20 million – more than the victims of the First World War.
The incubation period (time from infection to the occurrence of the first symptoms) is from several hours to 1 – 2 days. As a rule, the disease starts violently, suddenly with chills and high fever around 38 to 39 degrees (Celsius) and even higher, sweating, dizziness, headache (mostly in the frontal and temporal area), muscle and joint pain, loss of appetite, fatigue. The typical flu will make the patient experience pain upon movement of the eyeball. Patients complain of fear of light, feeling of dryness in the nose and throat, difficulty breathing and a dry, irritating cough. Usually heart is slowed and the blood pressure – low. This condition lasts up to 5 days, then the temperature and general condition are gradually recovered. This picture is for the uncomplicated influenza.
Treatment of mild and uncomplicated cases is limited to the treatment at home, including bed rest – hot drinks and easily digested food, heating procedures and adoption of expectorant, antipyretics (paracetamol or analgin) and advanced composite products.
Do not forget the citrus fruits, though – especially lemon and grapefruit and herbal teas. Antibiotics at the early stages of the disease are generally avoided because they do not “work” on the virus.

Italy
When Italians want salted salad or steamed vegetables, they use sea salt instead of table. Unlike processed salt that we used to use, the sea is all natural and contains more minerals. And, although both versions contain the same amount of sodium with a small amount of sea salt to get the same taste as strong with a large amount of other salt.
To start using sea salt!
No need to be afraid of salt. Used in moderation, it should have an important role in a healthy diet. Just a pinch of it can give a much better taste of any food.

So let’s take the example of people in the Middle East and India using rice, couscous, lamb and chicken as the basis for their meals, but completely change the taste of any food with unique combinations of spices. With cumin, turmeric, coriander, sumac and cinnamon salt is almost completely useless.
